The only legitimate price changes occur if the actual volume of goods significantly exceeds what was declared, or if physical access conditions (e.g., no lift on a high floor) differ from what was surveyed. We discuss all of this openly during the pre-move survey — zero surprises on moving day.

Several variables influence the final household shifting cost:

• Distance — the single biggest factor; longer routes mean higher fuel, toll, and driver costs
• Volume and weight — more goods require a larger vehicle
• Type of goods — antiques, pianos, and glassware need special packing and handling
• Number of floors — no-lift buildings attract extra labour charges
• Packing grade — standard vs. premium multi-layer packing
• Season — peak months (April–June, Oct–Nov) see 15–20% higher demand and prices
• Add-ons — vehicle transport, storage, unpacking, and reassembly are optional extras

Reputable movers typically collect a 10–30% booking advance to confirm your slot. At IntrCity, we collect a nominal advance at confirmation and the remaining balance on delivery — after you are fully satisfied.

Booking is a simple 4-step process:

• Step 2 – Survey: A relocation expert visits your home to assess goods and provide a binding quotation.
• Step 3 – Pack & Move: On your chosen date our crew packs, loads, and dispatches in GPS-tracked vehicles.
• Step 4 – Delivery: We unload, unpack, and arrange items at your new address. Payment on delivery.

• Local city shifting: At least 3–5 days ahead
• Intercity shifting: 10–15 days ahead for best vehicle and crew availability
• Peak season (April–June, Oct–Nov): 3–4 weeks in advance — demand surges significantly during these months
• Month-end moves: The last 5 days of any month are always high-demand; mid-month moves often get better pricing

Verifying a packers and movers company before handing over your belongings is critical. Check for:

• Valid GST registration number (verify at the official GST portal)
• Company registration certificate (PVT Ltd, OPC, or Sole Proprietorship)
• IBA approval if needed for bank or government employee transfers
• Physical office address verifiable on Google Maps

Yes. IntrCity allows free rescheduling up to 48 hours before your moving date — no penalty, no questions asked. Cancellations made closer to the move date may attract a nominal fee depending on whether a pre-move survey has been completed. Our customer support team will clearly explain all options when you reach out.

We strongly recommend that you or a trusted person be present for both packing and loading. Your presence allows you to identify fragile or excluded items, verify the inventory checklist, and supervise the condition of goods before loading. If you cannot attend, authorise a family member or colleague in writing — our crew will keep you updated with real-time photos and WhatsApp messages throughout.

IntrCity uses industrial-grade materials to ensure zero-damage packing:

• 5-ply corrugated cardboard boxes — for electronics, books, kitchenware, and clothes
• Multi-layer bubble wrap — for glassware, crockery, mirrors, and artwork

Fragile items receive 3-layer protective packing as standard. All boxes are labelled with content type, destination room, and handling instructions.

Yes — furniture dismantling and reassembly is included in our standard service. IntrCity's crew disassembles beds, wardrobes, modular kitchen units, and office workstations at origin and carefully reassembles everything at the destination. All screws, bolts, and fixtures are stored in labelled zip-lock bags attached to the corresponding furniture piece so nothing gets lost or mixed up.

Yes. IntrCity provides comprehensive goods-in-transit insurance covering accidental damage, theft, fire, and natural calamities during transport. While not legally mandatory, we strongly recommend it for every intercity or long-distance move. The premium is typically 0.5–1% of your goods' declared value and is listed transparently in your final invoice. Our claims process is fully documented, fast, and fair.

• Photograph or video the damage before unpacking everything
• Note the damage on the delivery receipt before signing
• Contact IntrCity customer support within 24 hours of delivery with documentation
• Submit your claim via our online portal with photos and original invoice

An open trailer carries multiple vehicles simultaneously and is exposed to road elements like dust, rain, and minor debris. It is the standard, more affordable option suitable for most everyday vehicles. An enclosed car carrier is a fully closed truck that protects vehicles from all weather, dust, and road spray — recommended for luxury cars, vintage vehicles, newly purchased cars, and low-clearance vehicles. IntrCity offers both options; our team will advise the best one for your vehicle during the survey.

Local shifting (intra-city) means moving within the same city or within 50 km. It is priced on a per-hour or flat-rate basis, typically completed in a single day, and generally costs ₹3,000 – ₹15,000.

Intercity or interstate shifting covers moves between cities or states beyond 50 km. It is priced by distance and volume, takes 1–5 days depending on the route, and starts from ₹8,000 for a 1BHK move going up to ₹80,000+ for large homes over long distances.

For safety and legal compliance, certain items are prohibited from transport by any licensed moving company:

• Flammable or explosive materials — LPG cylinders, fireworks, chemicals
• Perishable food items (especially for long-distance moves)
• Live plants (some states have phytosanitary restrictions)
• Pets (require dedicated pet relocation services)
• Cash, jewellery, and important documents — always carry these personally
• Illegal or restricted substances of any kind
